Lester W Schmerr Jr,世界無損檢測中心聯合會秘書長;美國愛荷華州立大學航天工程教授,無損評價中心副主任。
個人簡歷:自1969年起一直任教于美國愛荷華州立大學,自1989年起擔任了位于愛荷華州無損評價中心的副主任;2003年起擔任了世界無損檢測中心聯合會的常任秘書長。
Schmerr教授的研究主要在在超聲波領域,重點是桿模型、缺陷散射模型以及缺陷尺寸測量,以及將人工智能方法與神經網絡應用到超聲無損檢測模式識別等方面的研究。目前主要研究課題是超聲相控陣體系建模及其在檢測圖像生成新方法中的應用。

Short Biography: Professor Schmerr has been a faculty member at Iowa State University since 1969, where he is currently Professor of Aerospace Engineering. He is also served as Associate Director of the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation at Iowa State since 1989 and has been the Permanent Secretary of the World Federation of NDE Centers since 2003. He has published two books: Fundamentals of Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation – A Modeling Approach, Plenum Press, 1998, and with Prof. Sung-Jin Song, Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Systems – Models and Measurements, Springer, 2001. He has published numerous papers, proceedings, and book chapters on ultrasonic NDE modeling and he has applied artificial intelligence methods and neural networks to ultrasonic NDE pattern recognition problems. His work in ultrasonics has focused on beam modeling, flaw scattering modeling, and flaw sizing. He is currently engaged in modeling ultrasonic phased array systems and their use in new methods of image formation.
